Ever since he played the pivotal dual-roles of Stringbean & Batman in his Kindergarten play, Matt has been hooked on storytelling. Born with an incessant fascination with human behavior, Matt believes that our insecurities are our greatest enemy, and that storytelling may very well be - our only hope.
Onstage, Matt has been spotted in over 80 productions across 34 states, stretching from The Ahmanson Theater in L.A. to the Longacre Theater on Broadway. He’s played Lincoln Center, The Goodspeed, St. Louis Rep (Kevin Kline Award nom.), Williamstown, The Beckett, The York, and more - starring in shows like Harmony (Broadway World L.A. Award & Ovation Award noms), Bobby Gould in Hell, The Little Dog Laughed, Jersey Boys, and during a particularly stressful couple of weeks, took a turn as all 40-characters in a sold-out, extended run of the one-man show Fully Committed directed by the legendary Jay Sandrich.
Matt's onscreen credits include “Boardwalk Empire” (HBO), “The Path” (Hulu), “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (Amazon) & “Madam Secretary” (CBS). Matt also stars as Alex in “Incompleteness” (Best Actor in a Comedy nom. - NJ Webfest; Best Actor - NYC Web Fest; L.A. Actors Awards; AFIN Awards nom.) which has screened at numerous Film Festivals in the US and around the world. His film credits include SET IT UP (Netflix), SOLD OUT, ONLY DANCE CAN SAVE US, and KENDRA & BETH. Additionally, Matt has appeared in dozens of live concerts, events, industrials & national commercials including CES Las Vegas, MGM Grand, the Indy 500, the Belmont Stakes, Southern Comfort & more.
As a screenwriter, Matt finds himself often drawn to stories about second chances, for we all at some point - we all need them. He often writes about people resolving something in their past in order to move forward into the future - with recurring themes of guilt, redemption, and as hard as it may be to find some days - hope.
In 2021, his spec script REDWOOD FALLS placed Top 25 in the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards as well as a Top 5 Finalist at the Austin Film Festival - who called it "an unforgettable story of grief, adventure, and redemption."
In 2022, his biopic IF YOU CAN FIND ME I’M HERE about Stephen Sondheim and the creation of the musical Sweeney Todd trended on Hollywood's Black List website - "A worthy and welcome biopic of a real Broadway legend."
Matt has developed projects with LDR Creative & OnTheRocks Films (HBO's "UPROOTED), Ravenstream Productions, and more. He is currently hard at work on several scripted projects, and has two feature films in development.
He lives with his wife and two kiddos, can't stop listening to Pearl Jam, and loathes writing about himself - particularly in the third person. Go Mets.
